2009 FIRST Palmetto Robotics Competition

The 2009 FIRST Palmetto Regional Robotics Competition is scheduled at Littlejohn Coliseum on March 26th, 27th, and 28th. This year the Palmetto Regional will play host to 44 teams from 9 states and the country of Brazil. Over that three-day period, more than 1000 high school students and mentors will compete in robotic games of fun and excitement....often dubbed by the national news media as a "rock concert for the minds." Check out the website www.ces.clemson.edu/main/FRC . This site functions as our official State site to post updated information regarding the competition.

This is the second year that the event is being held at Clemson University. FIRST is an acronym for: For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. FIRST was founded in the early 90's by Dean Kamen, a world renowned inventor and entrepreneur, with the purpose of inspiring our youth to excel in math, science, and technology. What began then in a high school gym with a few teams from the mid-west and northeast, has grown into an international competition with over 1500 teams participating in 41 regionals across the US, Canada, and Mideast.
